What is it? The AOC is a place for anarchists to exchange, share, and learn different strategies and tactics connected to organizing for radical social change. At the AOC, we will:
-hold political education workshops on the local political histories of Los Angeles;
-learn various organizing models and examine the specificity of tactics needed for building movements;
-examine methods of leadership development, field program planning, and strategic targeting
What is the goal? By strengthening our organizing skills as anarchists, the AOC seeks to integrate theory and practice to achieve real-life gains for our communities. Do you want to see more urban community gardens in your neighborhood, but you don’t know how to get there? Do you want to see free and/or affordable community health centers opened in Los Angeles, but need more people to make this happen? What about securing free, healthy breakfast and lunch programs for our youth?
All of these demands are winnable! However, in order to make them happen, we need to get organized. It takes tremendous energy to create social and political change. Revolution depends, first of all, on how deeply we can organize ourselves. The AOC sees it as crucial to learn from and build upon our knowledge of movement building.
So, if you want to learn about the different stages of a campaign, get your hands dirty in actual organizing work, and also learn, study, write, and reflect upon the past influences and present legacies of prior anarchist activism in Los Angeles, then working with the AOC is the place for you!
